Therapy can be a scary and challenging process. One of the reasons for that is that it comes in many shapes and sizes. To me, the goal of therapy is to remove or reduce the hurdles and challenges that get in the way of living productive and happy lives. Here’s how I can help: My goal is firstly to establish a productive relationship with my patients where they feel safe and cared for. In establishing this partnership, we work together to identify the challenges that get in the way of daily life, establish concrete goals for what life should ideally look like without those hurdles and develop and implement a path towards achieving those goals. For nearly a decade, I have worked with adolescent and adult patients in school and clinical settings where we have followed this model in treating Anxiety, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, Depression, Trauma, Eating Disorders, Low Self-Esteem, cognitive and learning deficits among other disruptive problems many people struggle with. I have worked with individuals and couples struggling through problems with establishing and maintaining healthy and productive relationships. In all these areas I try to emphasize a results-based approach that is grounded in the best practices of Cognitive-Behavioral (CBT) Therapy and Rational-Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT). My years of clinical work in the USA and Israel have shown me that there is great potential for growth and healing when a person struggling is able to work with an empathetic and caring therapist to incorporate the best solutions that scientific research has to offer. I know as well as I anyone that many people face extremely difficult challenges in their lives. You are invited to contact me directly to begin a dialogue about how I can potentially help.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a type of psychotherapy that focuses on how one's thoughts, feelings and behaviors are connected and can be changed. It is based on the idea that how we think (cognition) and how we feel (emotion) can influence how we behave. CBT helps people identify and challenge distorted thinking and replace it with more balanced thinking, leading to improved mood and behavior. ‘Homework’, usually containing practical writing exercises, is often completed by the client between sessions to reinforce the therapy. Examples of tools that practitioners often use are journaling, challenging beliefs, and mindfulness.
Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT)Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT), originally developed by Albert Ellis, laid the foundation for what is now known as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. It is a philosophically and empirically based psychotherapy that focuses on resolving emotional and behavioral problems by identifying and challenging irrational beliefs. Based on the notion that we are typically unaware of our deeply embedded irrational thoughts and how they affect us on a day-to-day basis, Ellis established three guiding principles of REBT. These are known as the ABCs: activating events, beliefs, and consequences. Rewiring old patterns of thinking requires a lot of work and commitment, so active participation and openness in the therapy process is essential to success.
