TRANSFORMATION THROUGH YOUR HEALING JOURNEY Hi. I'm a psychotherapist with over 35 years of experience. I provide clients with a therapeutic approach that's Torah-based, holistic, creative, and goal-oriented. I have studied many different modalities from conventional to non-conventional. I believe that everyone's life journey benefits from developing a wide range of skills for healing and growth. Sometimes we need to heal past hurts and traumas, while at other times we're ready to integrate new, healthier beliefs or behaviors. Together we decide which process and skills to focus on to reach your specific goals. If you are comfortable with muscle testing, I can use it to help clarify which method might be more efficient.
My approach is holistic, I take into consideration your whole person: body, heart, mind (conscious and unconscious) and soul. Sometimes the conscious has one goal while the unconscious is not "ready, willing, and able" to move forward. I work with both parts. As someone who can synthesize Torah with psychology, I can offer an understanding that issues and challenges are designed by G-d to reveal and develop your hidden strengths and abilities. I have faith, from my own journey, and facilitating hundreds of others, that since G-d brought us to it, He will bring us through it-- with gifts. I am respectful if you prefer me not to refer to Judaic sources.
I am open-hearted and open-minded offering you the presence of a emphatic and intuitive listener, curious and compassionate explorer, and active guide. I have developed an original, highly effective paradigm for change called the Three Spheres of Self (see website listed below) to help you understand yourself, (your inner voices), and to help you make more aware, empowered choices. I am also familiar with the 12 Steps of Recovery. Because I want you to feel comfortable, and safe when working with me, I offer 15 minute consultation at no charge. This introductory meeting can be in person, or via Skype or phone.
I congratulate you for this courageous step in your healing journey by looking for a therapist. I look forward to hearing from you.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a type of psychotherapy that focuses on how one's thoughts, feelings and behaviors are connected and can be changed. It is based on the idea that how we think (cognition) and how we feel (emotion) can influence how we behave. CBT helps people identify and challenge distorted thinking and replace it with more balanced thinking, leading to improved mood and behavior. ‘Homework’, usually containing practical writing exercises, is often completed by the client between sessions to reinforce the therapy. Examples of tools that practitioners often use are journaling, challenging beliefs, and mindfulness.
Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT)Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) is an integrative psychological approach that focuses on building compassion for oneself and others. It combines elements of cognitive behavioral therapy, evolutionary psychology, philosophy, and Eastern contemplative traditions. CFT is based on the concept that compassion is a fundamental human emotion that can be cultivated to promote psychological well-being. The goal of CFT is to help individuals understand and relate to their emotions in a compassionate and non-judgmental way. It encourages clients to develop a sense of self-compassion and understanding, and to use it to create healthier ways of living. CFT also emphasizes developing a compassionate relationship with others, and can help foster greater acceptance and understanding. The primary therapeutic technique of CFT is compassionate mind training (CMT). Some CMT tools that clients may participate in are appreciation exercises, mindfulness, and compassion-focused imagery exercises. These exercises promote compassionate motivation, sympathy, sensitivity, and distress tolerance within clients.
DreamworkModern dreamwork asserts that the only person that can make meaning of their dream is the dreamer, which is what separates dreamwork from dream interpretation. In dreamwork, the practitioner is a guide in the exploration of the dream, with the client making meaning of the dream for themselves. The reason the practitioner is only a guide is because thoughts, emotions, as well as meaning of symbols are deeply personal and subjective. Dreams can be used to uncover hidden feelings and beliefs, develop self-awareness, and gain insight into problems and potential solutions. Dreamwork is often paired with other therapeutic modalities.
Emotion-Focused TherapyEmotion-focused therapy (EFT) is a type of psychotherapy that is based on the idea that emotions play a key role in a person’s mental health. EFT focuses on helping people to identify, accept, and manage their emotions in a healthy and productive way. The goal of EFT is to help people identify and express their emotions, understand how those emotions impact their behavior, and learn how to manage their emotions in a way that is adaptive and healthy. EFT is a research-based approach to psychotherapy that has been found to be effective in helping people manage a variety of mental health conditions. It has been used successfully in the treatment of individuals, couples, and families, as well as with groups. EFT is particularly beneficial for people who struggle with emotional regulation, mood disorders, anxiety, trauma, and relationship issues.
Emotional Freedom TechniqueEmotional Freedom Technique (EFT) is an alternative therapy for emotional and physical distress. It is based on the idea that the cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body's energy system. EFT is a form of psychological acupressure, in which a combination of physical tapping and verbal affirmations are used to help the body release the emotional and physical distress.
Guided ImageryGuided imagery is a form of visualization used for relaxation and healing. It uses the power of the imagination to create positive changes in a person's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is also used to reduce stress and anxiety, cope with physical and emotional pain, increase motivation, confidence, and self-esteem, and to improve focus and concentration. During a guided imagery session, the practitioner will guide the client through a series of visualizations, using words and descriptions to help them create mental images in their mind. These visualizations can take many forms, such as a comforting place from the past or the client’s future goals.
Holistic PsychotherapyHolistic psychotherapy emphasizes the individual's interconnectedness between the individual's physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects and views them as inseparable components of a single holistic system. Holistic psychotherapy focuses on understanding how these components interact and affect a person’s wellbeing. The goal of holistic psychotherapy is to create a sense of wholeness and harmony within the individual, and to foster self-awareness and self-care. Holistic practitioners use a variety of approaches, including traditional talk therapy, mindfulness practices, and body-based therapies like movement therapy. They also may incorporate nutrition, physical activity, and other lifestyle factors into treatment plans.
Internal Family Systems (IFS)Internal Family Systems (IFS) is an evidence-based psychotherapy that uses the metaphor of an internal family of parts to help people gain awareness of how different parts of themselves can interact in healthy and unhealthy ways. IFS encourages people to become curious about their different parts, with the goal of helping them gain access to their true Self or core. Through this process, people can learn to recognize and care for the different parts of themselves, as well as develop compassionate understanding for the origins of their parts. A key principle of IFS is that each part within the person has its own positive intention and is trying to protect the person in some way. By understanding the positive intention of each part, the practitioner and client can work together to help the parts feel heard and understood, and to find more adaptive ways of meeting their needs. IFS has been found to be an effective treatment for a variety of mental health issues, including depression, anxiety, trauma, and relationship issues.
Somatic Experiencing (SE)Somatic Experiencing (SE) is a body-oriented approach to the healing of trauma and other physical and psychological stresses. It is based on the idea that the body is a powerful source of healing and that unresolved trauma can be resolved through the process of bringing awareness and attention to the physical sensations of the body. By gradually and gently guiding individuals through the sensations associated with their traumatic experience, SE can help to restore balance and well-being more quickly and effectively than traditional psychotherapy. SE utilizes the body’s natural ability to regulate and heal itself and supports individuals in developing more resilience and self-regulation. Somatic Experiencing aims to help people move past the place where they might be “stuck” in processing a traumatic event. SE is often used to treat symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, depression, and other mental health issues.
