I view the process of therapy as a way to see one’s own wholeness and divine ability to make empowered choices. I am continually amazed at the courage and resilience that my clients show. From my experience of working with adults and children, I see a common denominator in everyone: an inner truth and wisdom that is waiting to be called upon and expressed.
As an expressive arts therapist, I gently walk with clients on their journey towards meeting and embracing more of the parts of themselves with compassion and presence. Many women I work with have tried conventional therapy and are ready to explore more creative ways of healing as a way to discover the deeper things they want to work on in order to create a rich and meaningful life for themselves. My specialty is using varied approaches such as talk, art, intuitive writing, guided imagery, gratitude tools and breathing. Through EFT tapping and IFS techniques my clients become more able to let go of old beliefs and blocks, and make the positive changes they had been hoping for. I've seen women thrive in their relationships with themselves and others using these approaches.
Through my training and experience as a massage therapist for women, I have seen the benefits of inviting the body into the therapeutic process. Body work along with mindfulness techniques help my clients become more present and empowered. They are able to release tension and the effects of trauma that have been stored in the body for years.
For women who feel they would benefit from this approach, a combination of psychotherapy and massage can be incorporated. We can discuss this during our consultation to see if it is the right approach for you.
The effects of art therapy on children are incredible. I've watched kids flourish in their self esteem, embrace their strengths and make room for the things they find challenging. My young clients have learned to identify and share their feelings, develop self and other awareness and come up with their own solutions. Through non-verbal mediums such as art, play and sandtray, kids are also able to share about and work through things they feel are too hard to put into words. The therapeutic relationship helps my clients improve social skills and develop trust. They leave sessions feeling more relaxed, seen and understood. I’ve seen the best results when parents participate by coming to parent sessions.
No artistic experience is necessary! Call or email me for a free phone consultation to discuss the possibilities.

Art TherapyArt therapy has clients express themselves through creative mediums such as drawing, painting, collage, coloring, or sculpting. Clients can interpret their subconscious world that is expressed in their art which could lead to a better understanding of their feelings and behavior. Artistic talent is not a prerequisite for art therapy as it’s not as much about the end result as much as it is about the process. The therapist looks for meaning in the creative choices of the work and the clients’ inner world. This therapeutic method enables clients to express their inner thoughts and feelings through creative expression rather than just talking about them.
Emotional Freedom TechniqueEmotional Freedom Technique (EFT) is an alternative therapy for emotional and physical distress. It is based on the idea that the cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body's energy system. EFT is a form of psychological acupressure, in which a combination of physical tapping and verbal affirmations are used to help the body release the emotional and physical distress.
Expressive Arts TherapyExpressive Arts Therapy is particularly beneficial for clients who struggle with describing what they are feeling verbally. Through imagination and creation of different art forms, clients are able to interpret and communicate their inner world and catalyze healing. Expressive arts therapy can involve the use of multiple modalities, such as visual arts, music, movement, drama, storytelling, poetry, and play. It is used to help individuals of all ages, including children and adults, to explore their feelings, reconcile emotional conflicts, foster self-awareness, manage behavior and addictions, develop social skills, improve reality orientation, and solve problems.
Internal Family Systems (IFS)Internal Family Systems (IFS) is an evidence-based psychotherapy that uses the metaphor of an internal family of parts to help people gain awareness of how different parts of themselves can interact in healthy and unhealthy ways. IFS encourages people to become curious about their different parts, with the goal of helping them gain access to their true Self or core. Through this process, people can learn to recognize and care for the different parts of themselves, as well as develop compassionate understanding for the origins of their parts. A key principle of IFS is that each part within the person has its own positive intention and is trying to protect the person in some way. By understanding the positive intention of each part, the practitioner and client can work together to help the parts feel heard and understood, and to find more adaptive ways of meeting their needs. IFS has been found to be an effective treatment for a variety of mental health issues, including depression, anxiety, trauma, and relationship issues.
