Sad

Hi-

The on and off status of war, wondering of they're gonna shoot at us or not, makes me very sad and depressed.  I have been in Israel through several wars but I'm finding myself grieving the life I had in Canada; it was war-free.  I think about moving back often but I'm either grieving not being there or grieving what I'd miss here. I'm tired of crying my way through the day but the threat of more war feels like an albatross around my neck.

Thank you very much for sharing. It sounds like you are having a hard time trying to cope with so much fear, anxiety, sadness and depressed mood. It's completely understandable taking into consideration what we have been through starting in October 2023. As you mentioned, this current war situation has felt different to others wars. You missing life in peace in Canada is completely understandable. It sounds like you feel that both moving back and staying here are both associated with losses, just different ones. I agree. Both situations are complex, and if I were helping you evaluate your choices and plans, I would think of grieving the life and your hopes of the life that you could have here, your expectations and hopes of life in Canada, the degree of the impact of the war on you currently and your well-being, as well as the general degree of mental health at this moment. Crying your way through the day makes me wonder how distressed you might actually be feeling at this time. Perhaps consulting with a therapist might offer you necessary support and clarity towards a way forward while helping you grieve and working through your depressed mood.
