ABOUT THE THERAPIST

I am an integrative psychotherapist committed to helping people heal complex relational trauma by restoring safety, clarity and connection in both their inner world and their relationships. I specialize in Complex PTSD (C-PTSD), which develops in the context of ongoing relational trauma - such as emotional neglect, profound criticism or abuse, or ongoing misattunement - where the nervous system learns to survive within unsafe or confusing relationships. Beyond the classic symptoms, C-PTSD often involves deep shame, fragmented identity, attachment insecurity, emotional dysregulation, and difficulty trusting one's perceptions in relationships. In my work, I help clients understand how early relational trauma shapes their nervous system, self-concept, and current patterns of connection.

My Approach to Helping:

I use a trauma-informed, relational approach, which includes my favorite modalities - Internal Family Systems (IFS), Polyvagal Theory, and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). My goal as a relational therapist is always to provide a safe place for clients to attend to their relational wounds while also experiencing a felt sense of safety in the body and a growing ability to foster new, reparative relational experiences.

Specific Issues I'm Skilled at Helping With:

I am especially skilled at helping clients with relational confusion and self-doubt, attachment injuries and how they play out in adult romantic relationships, shame-based identity and low self-worth, and emotional dysregulation and nervous system overwhelm. Some of the issues that come up frequently include repetition of toxic or abusive relationship patterns (such as trauma bonding and enmeshment), difficulties with boundaries and differentiation, and post-relationship recovery. I bring special sensitivity and expertise to internal fragmentation, identity repair and re-patterning, and building secure relating, which includes learning to tolerate intimacy, conflict and mutuality without losing self.

My Role as a Therapist:

My role as a therapist is to provide a safe, attuned relationship where clients can make sense of past relational trauma, restore trust in themselves, and learn to experience connection without losing their sense of self.

Additional Information About my Practice:

I offer therapy in a warm, welcoming private office located in the beautiful Jerusalem neighborhood of Ramot Bet, or online via Zoom.

TREATMENT APPROACH

Emotion-Focused TherapyEmotion-focused therapy (EFT) is a type of psychotherapy that is based on the idea that emotions play a key role in a person’s mental health. EFT focuses on helping people to identify, accept, and manage their emotions in a healthy and productive way. The goal of EFT is to help people identify and express their emotions, understand how those emotions impact their behavior, and learn how to manage their emotions in a way that is adaptive and healthy. EFT is a research-based approach to psychotherapy that has been found to be effective in helping people manage a variety of mental health conditions. It has been used successfully in the treatment of individuals, couples, and families, as well as with groups. EFT is particularly beneficial for people who struggle with emotional regulation, mood disorders, anxiety, trauma, and relationship issues.

Internal Family Systems (IFS)Internal Family Systems (IFS) is an evidence-based psychotherapy that uses the metaphor of an internal family of parts to help people gain awareness of how different parts of themselves can interact in healthy and unhealthy ways. IFS encourages people to become curious about their different parts, with the goal of helping them gain access to their true Self or core. Through this process, people can learn to recognize and care for the different parts of themselves, as well as develop compassionate understanding for the origins of their parts. A key principle of IFS is that each part within the person has its own positive intention and is trying to protect the person in some way. By understanding the positive intention of each part, the practitioner and client can work together to help the parts feel heard and understood, and to find more adaptive ways of meeting their needs. IFS has been found to be an effective treatment for a variety of mental health issues, including depression, anxiety, trauma, and relationship issues.

Person-Centered Therapy (Rogerian Therapy)Person-centered therapy, or Rogerian therapy, was developed by Carl Rogers in the 1940’s. It is a form of talk therapy that emphasizes the importance of providing psychological safety, unconditional positive regard, and empathic understanding to clients. This type of therapy is based on the belief that individuals have an innate capacity for self-actualization and self-understanding and that the therapist's role is to provide a supportive environment in which this process can take place. Through the use of active listening, open-ended questions, and non-judgmental reflection, the therapist helps the client to explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences in a safe and accepting environment. By doing so, clients are able to gain insight into their issues, develop a greater understanding of themselves, and work towards personal growth.

Relational PsychotherapyRelational psychotherapy is a form of psychotherapy that focuses on a person’s relationships with others and the dynamics between them. It emphasizes the importance of the therapeutic relationship between the client and the therapist, and it explores the meaning and purpose of relationships in the client’s life. Relational psychotherapy seeks to understand how the client’s past relationships shape their current experiences and how the client interacts with others. The goal is to help the person develop healthier relationships and better communication skills so they can become more emotionally connected to others.
